San Antonio are riding a three-game win streak and know that a victory here could secure home-field advantage for the conference championship clash with St Louis next week.
The Brahmas opened the season with back-to-back wins, beating DC 27-12 and Memphis 20-19, but failed to make it three-in-a-row as they lost 31-24 at home to St Louis.
They responded with a 19-9 win over Michigan and a 25-15 victory at Arlington, only to again miss out on three consecutive wins, this time losing 18-12 at DC.
San Antonio have not lost since though, building on their 15-12 victory over Houston with back-to-back home wins.
The Brahmas beat Arlington 20-15 before pulling off their biggest win of the season, upsetting previously unbeaten Birmingham 18-9 last weekend.
St Louis Battlehawks Form
St Louis enter this game with home-field advantage for the playoffs now up for grabs after two defeats in three games.
The Battlehawks opened the season with a 18-16 loss in Michigan, but responded immediately with a 27-24 victory at home to Arlington.
That sparked a five-game win streak that saw them win 31-24 at San Antonio, 32-17 at home to Memphis, 45-12 in DC and 22-8 at home to Houston.
St Louis’ streak was halted by a 30-26 defeat in Birmingham, and to make matters worse they lost AJ McCarron to an injury sustained in that game.
The Battlehawks overcame his absence to beat DC 26-21, only to then suffer a surprise 36-22 defeat in Arlington last weekend.
Verdict
San Antonio’s defense just did a number on Birmingham and will be full of confidence.
