However, they suffered a surprise home defeat to San Antonio in the XFL Championship Game, denying them the chance to play for the title at The Dome.
St Louis will look to avoid similar heartbreak this time around, and they made an early statement.
The Battlehawks, who made a surprising change at quarterback in the offseason, dominated Houston in a 31-6 victory on the road.
