San Antonio enter the new season looking to go one better in 2025, having lost in the inaugural UFL Championship Game.
The Brahmas were one of the teams to survive the USFL-XFL merger, but underwent some major changes between the 2023 and 2024 campaigns.
A whole new coaching staff was brought in and the roster was overhauled, and those changes paid off in their debut season in the new league.
San Antonio went 7-3 in the regular season to secure a place in the playoffs, and then pulled off an upset in the XFL Conference Championship as they stunned St Louis in the Dome, 25-15.
The Brahmas failed to back that up in the UFL Championship Game though, as they were shut out in a 25-0 loss to Birmingham.
Arlington Renegades Form
Arlington will look to bounce back from a miserable first season in the UFL that saw them win just three games.
The Renegades entered the league as the XFL champions, but they lost the season opener against UFL champions Birmingham and went on to drop their first six games.
They finally stopped the rot with a 47-23 victory over Memphis, only to lose 20-15 in San Antonio a week later.
That proved to be Arlington’s final defeat of the season though, as they finished on a high.
The Renegades upset St Louis at home, 36-22, before heading to DC to take down the Defenders, 32-31.
Verdict
San Antonio fell at the final hurdle a year ago, but should be contenders once again in 2025.
Arlington, meanwhile, still have question marks over a defense that struggled massively last season, so we are siding with the Brahmas in this all-Texas affair.
