Michigan booked their place in the USFL Conference Championship Game by compiling a 7-3 regular season record.
The Panthers split their first four games of the season, but sealed their place in the playoffs by embarking on a five-game win streak.
That run started with a 35-18 win in Memphis that was followed by a 28-27 victory over Arlington and a 22-9 success at the DC Defenders.
Michigan’s streak then reached five games as they backed up a 24-18 victory over Memphis with a 26-22 win in Houston.
The Panthers failed to wrap up the regular season with a win though, missing a last-gasp field goal as they were beaten 20-19 at playoff opponents Birmingham.
Birmingham Stallions Form
Birmingham missed out on a perfect regular season, but their 9-1 record was the best record in the inaugural UFL season.
The Stallions opened up on the road with a 27-14 win in Arlington and a 20-13 victory at Memphis, and then downed Memphis 33-14 in their home opener.
They kept the wins coming as they beat DC 20-18, before heading back out on the road to win 32-9 in Houston and 39-21 at Memphis.
Birmingham then took their streak to eight games with home victories over St Louis, 30-26, and Houston, 35-28, but their bid for perfection was ended in Week 9 by an 18-9 loss in San Antonio.
The Stallions rebounded in their regular season finale however, beating Michigan 20-19 in a dress rehearsal for this game.
Verdict
Birmingham are the UFL’s best team, but when it comes to spread bets they have been unreliable.
