Michigan go into this dress rehearsal for the conference championship game riding a five-game win streak.
The Panthers struggled for consistency during the first four weeks, going 2-2 as they twice failed to build on victories at home.
They rebounded from that second defeat though, cruising to a 35-18 victory in Memphis, and they have not looked back since.
Michigan made it back-to-back victories as they edged Arlington 28-27 at home, and they then went out on the road to down the DC Defenders 22-9.
The Panthers backed that up with another win over the Showboats, this time by a score of 24-18, before taking their streak to five games with a 26-22 victory in Houston.
Birmingham Stallions Form
Birmingham enter this matchup looking to bounce back from their first defeat of the season and send a message ahead of the USFL Conference Championship.
The Stallions opened the season with eight consecutive wins, extending a streak that dated back to the 2023 USFL season.
They won 27-14 in Arlington and 20-13 at Michigan, before returning home to down Memphis 33-14 and the DC Defenders 20-18.
Birmingham continued to stack up wins as they beat Houston 32-9 and Memphis 39-21 on the road, and their perfect start reached eight games with home wins over St Louis, 30-26, and Houston, 35-28.
The Stallions failed to make it nine-in-a-row though, as they were held to a season-low nine points in an 18-9 defeat in San Antonio last weekend.
Verdict
Birmingham remain the best team in the UFL, but Michigan make for appealing underdogs.
