Memphis head to Arlington looking to bring an end to a five-game losing skid that has left them with a 1-5 record.
The Showboats enjoyed a winning start to the season as they won 18-12 in Houston, and they should have improved to 2-0 a week later.
However, a stunning late collapse saw them gift a 20-19 victory to San Antonio – a loss that they have not yet recovered from.
Memphis were beaten 33-14 in Birmingham and 32-17 in St Louis, before returning home for back-to-back defeats at Liberty Stadium.
The Showboats fell to a 35-18 defeat when they hosted Michigan, and then lost 39-21 at the hands of back-to-back USFL champions Birmingham.
Arlington Renegades Form
Arlington remain the league’s only winless team after suffering their sixth consecutive defeat last weekend.
The Renegades entered this season as the 2023 XFL champions, but lost 27-14 at home to Birmingham in the season-opener.
A week later a last-gasp field goal condemned them to a 27-24 defeat in St Louis, and they then gave up a late lead to lose 29-28 at home to the DC Defenders.
Arlington’s losing run continued in Houston as they were beaten 17-9 by the Roughnecks, and a week later they suffered a 25-15 defeat at the hands of San Antonio.
The Renegades came painfully close to finally breaking their drought last weekend, but another last-gasp field goal resulted in a 28-27 loss in Michigan.
Verdict
Arlington are yet to win a game this season, but a bunch of their defeats have been extremely close.
Memphis, meanwhile, have suffered a string of one-sided defeats, so we are going to take our chances with the winless Renegades.
