Houston make the trip to Arlington looking to record only their second victory since the UFL was launched last year.
The Roughnecks, who were originally known as the Gamblers in the USFL, endured a miserable first season following the merger of the USFL and XFL.
They managed only one win during the regular season; a 17-9 victory over Sunday’s opponents Arlington.
Despite that 1-9 record Houston retained Curtis Johnson as head coach and did little to improve the roster, so it was no surprise when they were blown out in their 2025 opener.
The Roughnecks hosted St Louis for the league’s first outing of the year, and they were beaten 31-6 by the visiting Battlehawks.
Arlington Renegades Form
Arlington go into their second game of the season looking to build on their opening-day success.
The Renegades won the XFL Championship in 2023, but disappointed in the inaugural UFL season as they failed to make the playoffs.
They did finish the regular season strong though, winning three of their final four games, and they picked up from where they left off last weekend.
Arlington hosted a San Antonio team that made it all the way to the championship game a year ago, and they made a statement in a 33-9 victory.
The Renegades looked sharp on both sides of the football, and they will now look to avenge last season’s defeat to the Roughnecks.

Arlington looked like a contender in Week 1, while Houston offered little in a blowout loss.
