Mexico vs Ecuador Preview & Picks

History suggests we can expect both teams to score at an attractive price this weekend.

This bet has cashed repeatedly in recent meetings and consistently in recent games involving Ecuador.

  • Both teams have scored in 13 of the last 16 meetings
  • Ecuador have seen both teams score in their 4 most recent games
  • Ecuador have seen both teams score in 5 of their last 6 Copa America games

Head To Head

  • Mexico lead the all-time series 11-3 with 6 draws

Mexico Form

Mexico's qualification hopes hang in the balance after an upset 1-0 loss against Venezuela earlier this week.

Salomón Rondon's second-half penalty secured the points, to leave El Tricolor in a must-win situation coming into their final Group B fixture.

After beating Jamaica in their opening Group B contest, Mexico must now see off Ecuador to qualify for the quarter-finals.

Jaimie Lozano's men have been well short of form in the past year, with six losses recorded in their last ten internationals since November.

The Mexican's recent record at the Copa America offers little encouragement. El Tricolor failed to win nine of their last 12 matches in this competition since 2011.

Ecuador Form

Ecuador bounced back from a surprise defeat against Venezuela last week with a much-needed 3-1 win against Jamaica.

Alan Minda's first international goal put the seal on the points, securing La Tri's first win in the Copa America since a 4-0 win against Haiti in 2016.

In a strong run of form over the past year, Ecuador won ten and lost just four of their last 16 matches played since March 2023.

Félix Sánchez's side will qualify for the quarter-finals if they avoid defeat at State Farm Stadium.

Verdict

An entertaining showdown could see plenty of drama at State Farm Stadium.

With all in the line, I'm backing both teams to score in Sunday's decisive Group B contest.
