Toronto Maple Leafs Form

Toronto head to Carolina on their best run of form this season, having now won each of their last five games.

The Maple Leafs went into Christmas on the back of a couple of defeats, only to rebound by beating Detroit 5-2 on the road.

They failed to follow that up as they then lost 5-2 at home to Washington, but they have not lost since that December 28 defeat.

Toronto ended 2024 with a 3-1 win over the New York Islanders at home, and then backed that up with a 2-1 victory when they visited the Islanders two days later.

The Maple Leafs then beat Boston 6-4 at home, before winning back-to-back meetings with Philadelphia, 3-2 in overtime at home and 3-2 in regulation on the road.

Carolina Hurricanes Form

Carolina go into this matchup having struggled for consistency since Christmas, going 3-4 since Christmas Day.

The Hurricanes’ mixed form began as they split back-to-back meetings with New Jersey, losing 4-2 on the road and 5-2 at home.

They then dropped a shootout in Columbus before moving on to Florida where they took down the Panthers 3-1.

Carolina failed to make it back-to-back wins, losing 4-0 at home to Minnesota, only to rebound immediately with a 4-3 overtime success against Pittsburgh.

The Hurricanes again failed to follow up a win though, as they were beaten 3-2 in Tampa Bay.
