New York enter this matchup having ended a run of four consecutive defeats with a couple of wins.
The Rangers started 2023 with a 6-1 defeat at home to Carolina, only to respond with a 4-1 victory against Chicago.
Their form nose-dived after that victory though, as a shootout loss in Montreal proved to be the start of a four-game skid.
New York then lost 6-3 at home to Vancouver, before heading back out on the road to lose 5-2 in St Louis and 3-2 in Washington.
The Rangers avenged that loss 24 hours later though, beating the Capitals 2-1 at home, and they backed that up on Tuesday when they beat Seattle 5-2.
Vegas Golden Knights Form
Vegas go into this game looking to win back-to-back games for the first time since the first half of December.
The Golden Knights went on a four-game losing skid in 2023, and although they won their final game of the year, they have been unable to find some consistency.
They were beaten 3-0 by Seattle in the Winter Classic game and then fell to a 4-1 defeat when they hosted Florida.
Vegas rebounded to beat the New York Islanders 5-2, and then had to bounce back from a 3-0 loss in Colorado with a 2-1 overtime victory over Boston.
The Golden Knights again failed to follow up a win, losing 3-1 to Calgary, but they did win last time out, beating Nashville 4-1.
