New York Rangers at New York Islanders Preview & Picks

Who will claim the city’s bragging rights when New York’s two hockey teams go head-to-head?

Check back here on Tuesday morning for our free New York Rangers at New York Islanders tips.

Head To Head

  • New York Rangers lead the all-time series 158-146-29
  • New York Rangers won 5-2 when the two teams last met on November 3

New York Rangers Form

New York enter this matchup on an inconsistent run of form, having gone 4-5 around the break for the NHL 4 Nations Face Off.

The Rangers ended January with back-to-back defeats to Colorado, 5-4, and Carolina, 4-0, before beginning February with a 6-3 loss in Boston.

They snapped that losing skid with a 4-2 home win over Vegas, and then followed that up with a 3-2 success against Boston.

New York failed to make it three-in-a-row as they lost 3-2 to Pittsburgh, but they did go into the mid-season pause on a positive note thanks to a 4-3 win in Columbus.

The Rangers returned with an 8-2 blowout loss in Buffalo, only to rebound over the weekend with a 5-3 success in Pittsburgh.

New York Islanders Form

New York go into this game looking to snap a three-game losing skid and win for the first time since the mid-season break.

The Islanders enjoyed a red-hot run in the second half of January as a 4-1 victory over San Jose sparked a season-best seven-game win streak.

That run came to an end in early February though as they suffered a 6-3 defeat to Florida on the road.

New York responded with a 2-1 victory over Vegas, only to go into the NHL 4 Nations Face Off break on the back of a 4-3 loss in Winnipeg.

The Islanders have been unable to bounce back from that since the season resumed, losing 6-3 at Minnesota and 4-3 at home to Dallas.
