New York make the short trip to Buffalo looking to get back on track following their eighth defeat in their last 10 games.
The Rangers made a solid start to the second with 12 wins in their first 17 games, but their form nose-dived after a 3-2 defeat in Calgary in late November.
They then lost 6-2 in Edmonton, and their skid reached five games as they lost 5-2 at home to St Louis, 4-3 in Carolina and 3-1 in Philadelphia.
New York took two of the next three, sandwiching a 5-1 loss to New Jersey will a 4-3 win over Montreal and a 4-2 success against Pittsburgh, but they have dropped the last two.
The Rangers were beaten 7-5 at home by Seattle, and then suffered a 2-1 home defeat at the hands of Chicago.
Buffalo Sabres Form
Buffalo enter this matchup on a miserable run of form, having lost seven straight games to fall to 11-13-4.
The Sabres enjoyed a good run in November as they won seven times in a nine-game spell, but they have not won since the 4-2 victory in San Jose on November 23.
They saw a three-game winning run end with a 1-0 home loss to Minnesota, and that was followed by a 4-3 overtime defeat to Vancouver,
Buffalo then went out on the road to lose 3-0 at the New York Islanders, before returning home to lose four more games.
The Sabres were beaten 5-4 by Colorado, 3-2 in overtime by Winnipeg, 5-2 by Utah and via a shootout when they hosted Detroit.
Verdict
New York are on a bad run of form and have now lost four straight on their travels.
They were also smashed at home by Buffalo just last month, so we like the Sabres as underdogs on the home ice.
