Minnesota Wild at San Jose Sharks Picks & Betting Tips
Minnesota can get their eighth straight win in San Jose.
The Wild are looking to carry on the impressive form that has seen them win 7 games in a row and climb to 5th in the entire league.
San Jose are 16th in the league and look very inconsistent as they can’t get a run of wins going to push up higher in the Pacific Division.
I can’t see this being a close affair and the Wild will most probably run away with it near the end.
- Minnesota Wild are on a 7-game win streak
- Minnesota have also scored 32 goals in that 7-game run
- San Jose were on a 2-game losing run before beating the Flames 5-3 on December 7th.
- Minnesota Wild are 1st in the Central Division
- Toronto Maple Leafs are 5th in the Pacific Division
Head To Head
- San Jose Sharks lead the series this season 1-0 after beating the Wild 4-1 on November 17th.
- San Jose also lead the all-time series with 41 wins to Minnesota’s 34 wins.
Minnesota Wild Form
Minnesota are looking to improve on the season they had last year and if they keep this form up it’s almost guaranteed to happen. The Wild know exactly where the goal is scoring 32 goals in their 7-game win streak averaging 4.5 goals a game in this current form.
I don’t know many teams this season that would want to face the Wild and I think San Jose will know about this rise in performance and know they have a game on their hands.
The main player, who is leading the team in this run, is Kirill Kaprizov. He is in the form of his life scoring 11 points in the last 5 games which includes 7 goals in that 5-game period. He also leads the team in points and assists by some way. The 24-year-old has only just started playing regularly for the Wild and is proving that one of the LW spots has his name on it.
Another player that is helping Minnesota prove they are serious in the fight for the Stanley Cup is RW Ryan Hartman. Hartman has scored 21 points in 25 games and is 2nd in the chart behind Kaprizov. The 27-year-old started his career at the Blackhawks and had his highest scoring season there with 19 goals in 2016-17 season. He is currently on 13 goals having played 51 less games so he’s on course to set a personal best.
The Wild have 3.72 goals for average rate per game which is the 3rd highest in the league.
Cam Talbot has a goal against average is 2.71 and a save percentage of .915.
San Jose Sharks Form
San Jose can’t seem to hit any form as they can’t seem to get a run of winning games going and if they do win, they will most probably lose the next. They are 2-2-0 in the month of December and that tells you what you need to know about the current form of the Sharks.
If they are to win this game, they will have to rely on Tomas Hertl and Timo Meier. Hertl leads the charts in goals with 12 goals in 26 games and will have to find the form that he found against Calgary, where he scored 3 goals against the Flames.
Timo Meier leads the team in assists and points and is 2nd in the goals tally behind Hertl and is looking to get his 100th career goal in this game against the Wild.
The Sharks have an 87.9% Penalty Kill rate which is the 2nd highest in the league.
James Reimer has a goal against average is 2.11 and a save percentage of .934. He also has 1 shutout this season.

Verdict
I can’t see anything other than a comfortable Minnesota win when they visit the ‘Shark Tank’.
Minnesota look unstoppable and San Jose don’t look like the team that could stop this run and if they don’t set up defensive it could get ugly near the end.
