The Avalanche enter this matchup on a mixed run of form, having gone 3-4 since the start of the month.
They started April with back-to-back wins on the road, beating Chicago 3-2 and Columbus 7-3, but failed to complete a perfect three-game trip as they lost 5-4 in St Louis.
Colorado rebounded with a 3-2 shutout success against Vegas, only to then lose 4-1 to Vancouver and 5-4 in Los Angeles.
The Avalanche did wrap up the regular season with a victory though, as they ran out 4-2 winners in Anaheim.
Dallas Stars Form
Dallas secured their spot in the postseason by compiling a 50-26-6 regular-season record to finish second in the Central Division.
The Stars go into the playoffs stone cold though, having lost each of the final seven games on their schedule.
Their last win came on April 3 when they beat Nashville 5-1 to extend their win streak to seven games, but that run was ended by a 5-3 loss to Pittsburgh and they failed to bounce back.
Dallas then lost 3-2 in overtime at Minnesota, before returning home to lose 6-5 in overtime to Vancouver, 4-0 to Winnipeg and 5-3 to Utah.
The Stars’ losing skid then reached seven games on the road as they were beaten 6-4 in Detroit and 5-1 at Nashville.
Verdict
Colorado continue to get the better of Dallas and we like their chances of notching another road win.
The Avalanche have been on a roll on their travels, while the Stars remain on a miserable run of form.
