They then returned home to down Seattle 5-2, before heading back out on the road to beat Utah 4-1.
Colorado then took their win streak to six games with home wins over Winnipeg, 5-2, and Buffalo, 6-5 OT, before finally seeing it end with a shootout loss to Montreal.
The Avalanche bounced back at the first attempt though, beating Florida 3-1 on Monday night.
Chicago Blackhawks Form
Chicago go into this game in miserable form, having now lost six of their previous seven games.
The Blackhawks won three straight games in mid-December, but saw their form nose-dive over the Christmas period as they lost five straight.
They went out on the road to lose 6-4 in Calgary, 4-3 at Minnesota and 6-2 in Buffalo, before returning home for a 5-1 blowout loss to Dallas.
Chicago then lost 6-2 to St Louis in the Winter Classic at Wrigley Field, before finally stopping the rot with a 4-2 win over Montreal.
The Blackhawks failed to back up that victory though, as they then suffered a 6-2 defeat at the hands of the New York Rangers.
Verdict
Colorado are the better team in better form, so we expect them to win in Chicago.
We expect them to win comfortably too, because this Blackhawks team has given up a bunch of goals in recent weeks.
