The Bruins have failed to transfer their regular season form into the postseason in recent years, winning just one of their last three playoff series.
They come into this season opener having put together a 2-3 record in the preseason, which started with a 4-2 win over Washington.
Boston failed to build on that as they then went out on the road to lose 5-2 to the New York Rangers and 3-2 to Philadelphia in overtime.
The Bruins avoided a third straight loss with a 4-1 home win against Philadelphia, only to then lose 2-0 when they visited Washington for their final preseason game.
Florida Panthers Form
Florida come into the 2024/25 campaign looking to win back-to-back Stanley Cup titles.
The Panthers put together a 52-24-6 record in the regular season and then beat Tampa Bay, Boston, New York Rangers and Edmonton to lift the trophy.
They enter their season opener after a solid preseason campaign that saw them go 6-2, starting with back-to-back home wins over Nashville, 3-2 and 6-2.
Florida then lost 8-2 in Carolina, only to return home and immediately avenge that loss with a 5-4 overtime win against the Hurricanes.
The Panthers then lost 3-1 at home to Tampa Bay, before heading back out on the road to beat the Lightning 2-1 in overtime in their preseason finale.
Verdict
