The 49ers opened the season with a 32-19 win over the New York Jets, but they failed to follow that up as went on to lose four of their next six games.
That rough run included a couple of division losses to the Los Angeles Rams, 27-24, and Arizona, 24-32, while they did beat one NFC West rival, Seattle, 36-24.
San Francisco did manage back-to-back wins to end October and start November, beating Dallas 30-24 and Tampa Bay 23-20, but they have not won since.
The 49ers fell to a 20-17 defeat when they hosted Seattle, and that was followed by a 38-10 loss at Green Bay a week ago.

Buffalo go into this game in red-hot form, having won six straight games to take their record to 9-2.
The Bills raced out of the blocks with three consecutive victories, only to then lose back-to-back road games, 35-10 in Baltimore and 23-20 at Houston.
They have not lost since that defeat to the Texans though, sparking this six-game winning run with a 23-20 victory at the New York Jets.
Buffalo then beat Tennessee at home, 34-10, before heading to Seattle to down the Seahawks 31-10.
The Bulls then sandwiched a 30-20 victory in Indianapolis with important home victories over Miami, 30-27, and Kansas City, 30-21.
Verdict
Buffalo are the team in form and quarterback Josh Allen is playing at an MVP level.
That spells trouble for a struggling San Francisco defense, so we expect the Bills to get the win and cover in this one.
