They steadied the ship with a three-game win streak, only to then suffer back-to-back defeats to put them on the bubble.
Green Bay responded and closed out the regular season with three consecutive wins, winning 33-30 in Carolina and 33-10 in Minnesota, before downing Chicago 17-9.
That set up a Wildcard meeting with Dallas on the road, and the Packers stunned the Cowboys with a 48-32 victory that was not nearly as close as the final score suggests.

San Francisco return from a first-round bye that was earned by their 12-5 regular season record.
The 49ers went into their bye week at the start of November on a three-game losing skid, but when they returned to action they were relentless.
They reeled off six consecutive victories to take control of the NFC West, blowing out Philadelphia 42-19 on the road in a rematch from last season’s NFC Championship Game.
San Francisco’s run was halted by a 33-19 defeat to Baltimore in what many considered a dress rehearsal for the Super Bowl, but they hit back immediately to win 27-10 at Washington.
The 49ers then had the luxury of resting key starters for their regular season finale, which they lost to the Los Angeles Rams, 21-20.
Verdict
Green Bay deserve plenty of plaudits for the way they demolished Dallas.
However, San Francisco do not have a habit of choking in the postseason like the Cowboys do, so we are confident that the 49ers will – yet again – get the better of the Packers in the playoffs.
