The 49ers enjoyed a winning start to the season as they beat the New York Jets 32-19, only to then lose their next two on the road.
They were beaten 23-17 in Minnesota before returning to the West Coast for a 27-24 defeat at the hands of the Los Angeles Rams.
San Francisco rebounded with a 30-13 victory over New England, only to then suffer their first home loss of the season as they were beaten 24-23 by another division rival, Arizona.
The 49ers bounced back with their first division win, downing Seattle 36-24 on the road, but again they failed to build on a victory as they were beaten 28-18 by Kansas City in a rematch from last season’s Super Bowl.
