Texas vs Oklahoma Preview & Picks

Texas are tipped to cover a double digit spread as they make another statement.

The Longhorns have been dominant through five games and will only be stronger with Quinn Ewers back for this one.

That spells trouble for an Oklahoma team who are yet to put together a complete performance this season.

  • Texas are 5-0 so far this season
  • Texas are 4-1-0 ATS through their 5 games
  • Oklahoma are 1-2-0 ATS in their last 3 games against a ranked opponent
  • The Over has cashed in 3 of Texas’ last 4 games

Head To Head

  • Oklahoma lead the all-time series 16-8
  • Oklahoma won 34-30 when the two teams last met in October 2023

Texas Form

Texas go into the Red River Rivalry boasting a perfect record, having won five straight games to become the number one team in the nation.

The Longhorns kicked things off with a shutout victory over Colorado State, beating the Rams 52-0 at home.

They followed that up a week later and sent a message to the rest of college football as they went out on the road to dominate Michigan in a 31-12 win.

Texas returned home after that victory and reeled off a couple of blowout wins as they beat UTSA, 56-7, and UL Monroe, 51-3.

The Longhorns then made it five-in-a-row last weekend, although they may have been looking ahead to this one as they failed to cover in a 35-13 win over Mississippi State.

Oklahoma Form

Oklahoma head to Texas having bounced back from their first defeat of the season with a victory to improve to 4-1.

The Sooners kicked off the campaign with a dominant 51-3 win over Temple in the first of four consecutive home games.

They were much less convincing a week later as they scraped past Houston, 16-12, but they got  the job done a week later they made it to 3-0 with a 34-19 victory over Tulane.

That sent Oklahoma into a big meeting with ranked Tennessee with a 100% record, but they failed to retain it as they were beaten 25-15 by the Volunteers.

The Sooners did respond last Saturday however, heading out on the road for the first time this season to beat Auburn 27-21.

Verdict

Texas have establish themselves as the cream of the crop through the first several weeks of the season.

They are piling up points on offense and dominating on defense, so right now it is tough to go against the Longhorns.
