Ole Miss vs Duke Preview & Picks

Ole Miss are backed to cover a two-touchdown spread as they win the Gator Bowl.

Jaxson Dart and several key players have already stated they will play, and if they stay true to their word then the Rebels should be too strong for Duke.

  • Ole Miss are 7-2-0 ATS in their wins this season
  • Ole Miss are 4-0-0 ATS in non-conference games
  • Duke are 0-2 against ranked teams this season
  • The Under has cashed in 10 of Ole Miss’ 12 games

Head To Head

  • This is the first ever meeting between the two teams

Ole Miss Form

Ole Miss went 9-3 during the regular season to narrowly miss out on a place in the College Football Playoffs.

The Rebels opened with four straight victories, only to then suffer a surprise 20-17 defeat to Kentucky that knocked the out of the top 10.

They rebounded with a 27-3 win in South Carolina, only to then lose 29-26 to LSU to leave themselves in a major fight to make the playoffs.

Ole Miss gave themselves a chance with three consecutive wins, including a 28-10 success against Georgia, but all of that work was undone by a 24-17 defeat in Florida.

The Rebels did at least wrap up the regular season with a win though, beating Mississippi State 26-14 last time out.

Duke Form

Duke enter the Gator Bowl having put together a 9-3 record during the regular season to earn this invite.

The Blue Devils started the season with a five-game win streak that included a conference success against North Carolina, 21-20.

They suffered an early setback as they were beaten 24-14 at Georgia Tech, and then failed to build on a 23-16 win over Florida State as they lost back-to-back ACC matchups.

Duke were beaten 28-27 at home by SMU, and then went out on the road for a 53-31 defeat at the hands of Miami.

The Blue Devils responded with three straight wins though, closing out the regular season by beating NC State 29-19, Virginia Tech 31-28 and Wake Forest 23-17.

Verdict

Ole Miss head coach Lane Kiffin is not expecting many opt outs and record-breaking QB Jaxson Dart has said he will play.

If the Rebels do field a strong roster on January 2, we expect them to deliver one final win and cover.
