The Thundering Herd split their first four games as they went 2-2 in non-conference play, with one of those defeats being a 49-14 blowout loss to Ohio State.
They then failed to follow up their 52-37 win over Appalachian State in their Sun Belt opener, losing 24-23 at Georgia Southern.
Marshall have not lost since though, sparking this winning run with a 35-20 win over Georgia State and a 28-23 victory against UL Monroe, before heading on the road to beat Southern Mississippi 37-3.
The Thundering Herd then downed Coastal Carolina 31-19 at home, before closing out the regular season with road wins at Old Dominion, 42-35, and James Madison, 35-33.
Louisiana Form
Louisiana rebounded from their only conference defeat with back-to-back wins to finish 10-2 and book their place in the Sun Belt Championship.
The Ragin’ Cajuns went 3-1 in non-conference play to start the season, before winning their first five Sun Belt games.
They won 23-13 at Southern Mississippi, and then followed up a 34-24 home win against Appalachian State with road wins over Coast Carolina, 34-24, and Texas State, 23-17.
Louisiana then returned home to beat Arkansas State 55-19, only to see their perfect conference record end with a 24-22 defeat to South Alabama.
The Ragin’ Cajuns have bounced back though, beating Troy 51-30 at home and UL Monroe 37-23 on the road.
Verdict
There has not been a more reliable spread bet in college football than Marshall this season.
