Georgia Form
Georgia go into the SEC Championship Game on a three-game win streak that resulted in a 10-2 record.
The Bulldogs opened the season as the number-one ranked team and sent a message with a 34-3 blowout of Clemson on opening weekend.
They underwhelmed after that though, and by the end of September they had surrendered the top spot, ending the month with a 41-34 defeat in Alabama.
Georgia rebounded with four straight wins, including a 30-15 upset of top-ranked Texas, only to see that streak end with a 28-10 defeat when they visited Ole Miss.
The Bulldogs bounced back quickly though, downing Tennessee 31-17, and then wrapped up the regular season with a 59-21 blowout of Massachusetts, and a thrilling 44-42 overtime win over Georgia Tech.
Texas Form
Texas enter their first ever SEC Championship Game having put together an 11-1 record during the regular season.
The Longhorns raced out of the blocks with six straight convincing wins, including a 31-12 victory at defending champions Michigan on the road.
That run came to a shuddering halt in October though, as they crashed to a 30-15 defeat to Georgia at home.
Texas responded with a five-game win streak, starting with a 27-24 victory in Vanderbilt, which was followed by a 49-17 home win over Florida.
The Longhorns then sandwiched a 31-14 home win against Kentucky with road victories over Arkansas, 20-10, and Texas A&M, 17-7.
Verdict
Georgia took the regular season bragging rights, but we expect Texas to take this one.
Despite that defeat the Longhorns have been the better team over the course of the season, so we are backing them for revenge.
