They warmed up for the conference tournament by downing Indiana on the final day of the regular season.
The Boilermakers then followed that up with a 69-61 win over Penn State and 75-70 victory against Michigan State to make the Big Ten final.
They fell at the final hurdle though, losing 75-66 to #24 Iowa in the conference tournament finale.
Purdue rebounded to make a strong start to March Madness, beating Yale 78-56 in the first round.
The Boilermakers then followed that up with an 81-71 victory over #25 Texas to reach the Sweet 16 for the fourth time in five years.
Trevion Williams led the way with 22 points and seven rebounds off the bench against Texas, while Jaden Ivey put up 18 points and Zach Edey contributed 11 points and 10 rebounds.
St Peter’s Form
St Peter’s are riding a nine-game win streak as they prepare for their first appearance in the Sweet 16 of March Madness.
The Peacocks rapped up their regular season with four straight wins and followed that up with a successful run in the conference tournament.
They downed Fairfield and Quinnipac on their way to the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference tournament final.
There they beat Monmouth 60-54 to claim the tournament title.
St Peter’s have seriously topped that success here at March Madness however.
In the first round they dumped out #7 Kentucky in overtime, and in round two they sent #20 Murray State packing, 70-60.
KC Ndefo led the Peacocks with 17 points and 10 rebounds in his double double against the Racers.
Verdict
Purdue have the talent to take away St Peter’s biggest strength in this matchup.
The Boilermakers are backed to command the paint at both ends as they cover a double digit spread.
