Memphis earned their trip to the playoffs by going 48-34 in the regular season and successfully negotiating the Play-In Tournament.
The Grizzlies blew hot and cold over the final few weeks of the regular season, ending March on a run of three straight defeats, before starting April with a 134-125 loss to Golden State.
They rebounded on the road by beating Miami 110-108, Detroit 109-103 and Charlotte 124-100, only to then lose 141-125 at home to Minnesota and 117-109 in Denver.
Memphis wrapped up the regular season with a 132-97 demolition of Dallas, but they failed to make it back-to-back wins in the first round of the Play-In.
The Grizzlies suffered a 121-116 defeat at Golden State, but they took their final chance in the Play-in Tournament as they beat Dallas 120-106.
Oklahoma City Thunder Form
Oklahoma City clinched their place in the playoffs by putting together a 68-14 record to finish top of the Western Conference standings.
The Thunder ender the playoffs on a roll too, winning 15 of their final 17 regular season games.
They embarked on an 11-game win streak between the middle of March and early April that was finally ended by defeats to Houston, 125-11, and the Los Angeles Lakers, 126-99.
Oklahoma City rebounded in their final home regular season game, beating the Lakers 136-120, and they followed that up with three straight road wins.
The Thunder closed out the regular season by beating Phoenix 125-112, Utah 145-111 and New Orleans 115-100.
Verdict
Oklahoma City set the standard in the West this year and their form heading into this game is tremendous.
The Thunder have been stacking up wins and covers and they have dominated the Grizzlies in recent years, so we expect OKC to make a statement in Game 1.
