  • Golden State Warriors won 95-85 when the two teams last met on April 20

Golden State Warriors Form

Golden State booked their spot in the postseason by going 48-34 in the regular season and successfully negotiating the Play-In Tournament.

The Warriors ended March with back-to-back wins on the road, beating New Orleans 111-95 and San Antonio 148-106, and began April with two more road wins, beating Memphis 134-125 in Memphis and the Los Angeles Lakers 123-116.

They cooled off during the run-in, first sandwiching a 133-95 win over Phoenix with a 106-96 defeat to Houston and a 114-111 loss to San Antonio.

Golden State then beat Portland 103-86, before closing out the regular season with a 124-119 defeat to the LA Clippers in overtime.

The Warriors responded with a 121-116 win over Memphis in the Play-In, and they backed that up in Game 1 of his series as they won 95-85 in Houston.

Houston Rockets Form

Houston clinched their place in the postseason by putting together a 52-30 record that secured second place in the Western Conference standings.

The Rockets ended the season on a three-game losing run, but a run of 15 wins in the 17 games prior to that earned them the number two seeding.

That great run began with a nine-game win streak and also featured two more three-game winning runs.

Houston ended the regular season on a three-game slide though as they lost 134-117 at the LA Clippers and 140-109 at the Los Angeles Lakers, before returning home for a 126-111 defeat to Denver.

The Rockets’ slump then reached four games in the series opener against Golden State, as they were beaten 95-85 at home.

Verdict

Golden State’s experience showed in Game 1 and this combination of Curry and Butler has made them a serious threat.

Winning twice in Houston will be difficult, but after what we saw in the series-opener we like the Warriors with the free buckets.
