The Pistons blew a fourth-quarter lead as they were beaten 123-112 in New York in Game 1, but they rebounded to take the next game, 100-94.
They failed to build on that at home though, as they suffered back-to-back defeats at the hands of the Knicks.
Detroit lost 118-116 in Game 3, and now find themselves two games down after a 94-93 loss in the fourth game of the series.
The Pistons ended their playoff drought by putting together a 44-38 record to finish sixth in the Eastern Conference standings.

New York return home in command of this series, having won back-to-back games on the road to take a 3-1 series lead.
The Knicks made a winning start to the postseason as they fought back to beat the Pistons 123-112, but they failed to back that up as they lost 100-94 to Detroit in Game 2.
