The Cavaliers rode a 12-game win streak between mid-December and mid-January, and then rebounded from a loss to Oklahoma City with back-to-back wins.
They beat Minnesota 124-117 on the road, before returning home to take down Phoenix, 118-92.
Cleveland lost the next three though, sandwiching a 132-129 defeat to Philadelphia with a couple of defeats at the hands of Houston, 109-108 and 135-131.
The Cavaliers avoided a fourth straight loss though, returning to winning ways with a 110-91 victory over Detroit.
Miami Heat Form
Miami go into this game looking to string together three wins and beat Cleveland for the second time this season.
The Heat endured a rough run of form during the middle of January as they lost five times in a six-game spell.
They lost back-to-back games in Los Angeles, 109-98 to the Clippers and 117-108 to the Lakers, before returning home for a 133-113 defeat to Denver.
Miami avoided a fourth straight loss thanks to a 128-107 win over San Antonio, but they failed to back that up as they then lost 116-107 to Portland and 125-96 at Milwaukee.
The Heat rallied in Brooklyn though, beating the Nets 106-97, and that was followed by a 125-119 double overtime victory over Orlando.
Verdict
Cleveland are the better team, but their form has cooled off recently and their record against Miami over the past couple of seasons is rough.
