The Celtics made light work of Orlando in the series opener as they ran out 103-88 winners.
Then, despite Jaysom Tatum’s absence, they backed up that victory with a 109-100 success on Wednesday night.
Boston secured their place in the playoffs by compiling a 61-21 record to finish second in the Eastern Conference standings.
The Celtics are, of course, looking to become back-to-back NBA champions after beating Dallas 4-1 in last season’s Finals.
Orlando Magic Form
Orlando return home in need of a victory, having begun this series back-to-back defeats in Boston.
The Magic could not have asked for a much tougher opponent than the Celtics, so it is no shock to see them heading home 2-0 down.
They were blown out in the opening game, 103-88, and although they hit the 100-point mark in the second meeting, they could not avoid a 109-100 defeat.
Orlando claimed their place in the postseason by compiling a 41-41 regular season record before successfully negotiating the Play-in Tournament.
Having lost to Atlanta on the final day of the regular season, they avenged that defeat with a 120-95 victory in the Play-In.
Verdict
Orlando won both regular season meetings at home, but we do not expect that trend to continue.
Boston have dealt well with Orlando’s physicality through two games and they are, quite simply, the better basketball team.
