UFC 296 Preview
The final UFC PPV event of 2023 emanates from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on Saturday, December 16.
The night’s action is headlined by two title fights, with the welterweight showdown between Leon Edwards and Colby Covington the final fight of the card.
Edwards is on a 12-fight win streak that saw him dethrone Kamaru Usman and then successfully defend the title against the former champion.
In Covington he is facing an experienced contender who has twice fought for the welterweight crown, losing to Usman on both occasions.
So can Covington make it third time lucky against Usman’s conqueror, or will Edwards prove MMA math can be right sometimes by beating the man Usman dispatched twice?
The other title fight on the card takes place in the flyweight division, with Alexandre Pantoja defending against Brandon Royval.
Pantoja dethroned Brandon Moreno in July and will be making his first defence against Royval, who is riding a three-fight win streak.
This win streak includes a submission win over challenger Royval back in August 2021, so will lightning strike twice?
