Tom Aspinall vs Marcin Tybura Preview & Picks

Tom Aspinall is tipped to make up for lost time with a stoppage win.

Aspinall was on a tear prior to his injury, and should overwhelm Marcin Tybura before finishing him.

  • Tom Aspinall is 8-1 in his last 9 fights
  • All 12 of Aspinall’s wins have come via stoppage
  • 4 of Marcin Tybura’s 7 career losses have been by stoppage

Tom Aspinall Form

Tom Aspinall is the #5 ranked heavyweight fighter with a professional record of 12-3 (9 KOs, 3 Subs).

Aspinall debuted in the UFC back in July 2020 and wasted little time in making an impression on the division.

He knocked out Jake Collier just 45 seconds into his debut, and took out Alan Baudot in 95 seconds in his sophomore outing.

The 30-year-old Englishman then showed that he was much more than a striker in his next outing, submitting former UFC heavyweight champion Andrei Arlovski in the second round.

Aspinall showcased his striking once again in his next outing, knocking out Sergey Spivak 2:30 into the first round.

He then recorded the biggest win of his career to date when he tapped out Alexander Volkov in the very first round.

His career was put on hold last July though, when he suffered a knee injury seconds into his main event clash with contender Curtis Blaydes, resulting in a TKO loss.

Marcin Tybura Form

Marcin Tybura is the #10 ranked heavyweight fighter with a professional record of 24-7 (9 KOs, 6 Subs).

Tybura signed with the UFC in 2016 and rebounded from a debut defeat with a run of three consecutive wins.

His momentum stalled between 2017 and 2019 though, as he lost four times in five fights to put a massive dent in his title quest.

The 37-year-old Polish fighter was knocked out by Derrick Lewis, Shamil Abdurakhimov and Augusto Sakai, and lost a unanimous decision to Fabricio Werdum.

Tybura stopped his slide in February 2020 with a unanimous decision win against Sergey Spivak, and that win sparked an upturn in fortunes for him.

He claimed decision wins over Maxim Grishin and Ben Rothwell, before taking out former NFL star Greg Hardy with strikes in the second round.

Tybura then knocked out Walt Harris in the first round, only to see his streak come to an end with a unanimous decision loss to Alexander Volkov in October 2021.

He has bounced back though, following up a majority decision win against Alexander Romanov with a unanimous decision success against Blagoy Ivanov.

Verdict

Tom Aspinall was storming towards a title shot when injury halted his rise last year.

We fully expect Aspinall to pick up from where he left off on Saturday, beating Marcin Tybura in straightforward fashion.
