Dos Anjos reigned over the 155lb division between 2015 and 2016, but moved up not long after losing the title.
He made a good start to life at welterweight as he reeled off three straight wins, including a decision victory against former champion Robbie Lawler.

He earned a split decision win over Paul Felder before claiming a unanimous decision win against Renato Moicano in March.
That victory took Dos Anjos’ record to 31-13, with five wins coming by KO/TKO and 10 by submission.

Rafael Fiziev has rebounded from a UFC debut defeat to surge into the top 10 in the lightweight division.
Fiziev signed with the UFC after going a perfect 6-0 in the minor leagues, but he false-started in his first trip to the Octagon.
The 29-year-old Azerbaijani fighter was knocked out by Magomed Mustafaev in the first 86 seconds.
He has rebounded since then though, putting together a five-fight win streak to kick-start his UFC career.
This run started with back-to-back decision wins against Alex White and Marc Diakese.
Fiziev then registered the first stoppage win of his UFC career by taking out Renato Moicano in the first round.
He fought twice in 2021 as his stock continued to grow, following up a decision win against Bobby Green with a third-round knockout of Brad Riddell.
That victory improved Fiziev’s career record to 11-1, with seven wins coming by KO/TKO and one via submission.
