Henry Cejudo Form
Henry Cejudo is a former UFC bantamweight and flyweight champion with a professional record of 16-4 (8 KOs).
Cejudo, currently ranked #7 in the bantamweight rankings, first debuted in the UFC in 2024 and reeled off four straight victories to surge into flyweight title contention.
He came up short when he challenged for the title, losing to Demetrious Johnson by TKO, and he then dropped a split decision to Joseph Benavidez.
‘The Messenger’ rebounded the following year though, knocking out Wilson Reis before beating Sergio Pettis on points, and that earned him another crack at Johnson.
Cejudo took his second chance too, edging ‘Mighty Mouse’ by split decision to win the flyweight title.
He then sensationally knocked out TJ Dillashaw in 32 seconds in his first defence of the belt, before opting to vacate and go after the bantamweight title.
The 38-year-old Californian became a two-weight champion by knocking out Marlon Moraes in the third round to win the vacant title, and he then successfully defended that crown with a second-round stoppage of Dominick Cruz.
Cejudo retired following that May 2020 loss, but ended his exile from the UFC in May 2023 when he lost to champion Aljamain Sterling by split decision.
That became back-to-back defeats in his only outing of 2024, as he dropped a decision to Merab Dvalishvili.
Song Yadong Form
Song Yadong is the #8 ranked bantamweight contender with a career record of 21-8 (8 KOs, 3 Subs) with 1 draw and 1 No Contest.
Song debuted in the UFC in November 2017 and went unbeaten in his first six fights for the promotion, winning five times and drawing the other.
That run was ended by a points loss to Kyler Phillips, but he rebounded quickly to reel off three straight wins, edging Casey Kenny by split decision before knocking out Julio Arce and Marlon Moraes.
‘The Kung Fu Kid’ saw his run end when the doctor stopped his fight with Cory Sandhagen after round rounds, but he again rebounded quickly from a loss.
Song knocked out Ricky Simon in the fifth round and then out-pointed Chris Gutierrez over five rounds to climb back up the bantamweight ladder.
He failed to make it three-in-a-row though, as he was beaten on points by Petr Yan last March.
Verdict
It has been a long time since Henry Cejudo won, but his biggest weapon is Song Yadong’s biggest flaw.
