Brendan Allen vs Paul Craig Preview & Picks

Brendan Allen is tipped to win this fight via submission.

Paul Craig is guilty of being reckless at times, leaving himself open, and that is likely to cost him here.

Craig has been stopped multiple times in his career and Allen has the ability to get the job done inside five rounds.

  • Brendan Allen is on a 5-fight win streak
  • 13 of Allen’s 22 career wins have come via submission
  • 10 of Allen’s 12 fights inside the UFC have not gone the distance
  • 5 of Craig’s 6 career defeats have come by KO/TKO or submission

Brendan Allen Form

Brendan Allen is the #10 ranked middleweight contender with a career record of 22-5 (5 KOs, 13 Subs).

Allen won his first three fights in the UFC after signing in 2019, only to see that streak end with a second-round knockout loss to Sean Strickland.

He rebounded immediately to submit Karl Roberson in the first round, before beating Punahele Soriano by decision.

The 27-year-old American failed to make it three-in-a-row, losing to Chris Curtis via second-round TKO, but he has not lost since that fight in December 2021.

Allen briefly moved up to light-heavyweight to submit Sam Alvey in February 2022, before returning to middleweight to beat Jacob Malkoun by unanimous decision.

‘All In’ earned ‘Performance of the Night’ honours in his next two fights as he submitted Krzysztof Jotko in the first round and Andre Muniz in the third.

He then took his win streak to five fights in June of this year, submitting Bruno Silva in the opening round.

Paul Craig Form

Paul Craig is the #13 ranked middleweight contender with a professional record of 17-6 (4 KOs, 13 Subs) and 1 draw.

Craig debuted in the UFC as a light-heavyweight in December 2016 but struggled to make an impact as he went 4-4 in his first eight fights.

That sequence did include a memorable victory that saw him tap out Magomed Ankalaev with just one second to go in a fight he was losing.

In November 2019 he went to a split decision draw with Mauricio Rua, but when the two men met again a year later ‘Bearjew’ had his hand raised, knocking out ‘Shogun’ in the second round.

Craig followed that up by knocking out Jamahall Hill in the first round, and he then submitted Nikita Krylov in the opening round to continue his rise.

The Scottish fighter’s momentum soon stalled, as he dropped a decision to Volkan Oezdemir and then lost via first-round TKO against Johnny Walker.

The 35-year-old moved down to middleweight after that loss, and made a successful debut in July as he stopped Andre Muniz with strikes in the second round.

Verdict

These two men have a knack for not going the distance, so we expect a finish in this one.

Brendan Allen is backed to provide it – he is a little more calculated with his strikes and also has the skills to tap out Paul Craig.
