Brandon Moreno Form
Brandon Moreno is a two-time former UFC flyweight champion and the current #2 ranked contender with a 21-8-2 record (5 KOs, 11 Subs).
Moreno debuted in the UFC in September 2019 and went unbeaten in his first four fights to earn a shot at the flyweight title.
He went to a majority draw with Deiveson Figueiredo in that fight, but when the two men met several months later the 30-year-old Mexican completed his rise to the top with a third-round submission win.
‘The Assassin Baby’ failed to make a successful defence as he lost the trilogy fight via unanimous decision, but he rebounded quickly.
Moreno stopped Kai Kara-France with strikes in the third round to win the interim title in July 2022, and the following January he stopped Figueiredo in three rounds to become unified champion.
He again failed to make a successful defence, dropping a split decision to Alexandre Pantoja, and he failed to bounce back in February as he lost a split decision to Brandon Royval.
Amir Albazi Form
Amir Albazi is the #3 ranked contender in the flyweight division with a career record of 17-1 (5 KOs, 9 Subs).
Albazi compiled a 12-1 professional record before making his UFC debut in the summer of 2020.
The 31-year-old Iraqi enjoyed a successful debut as he submitted Malcolm Gordon in the first round, and he backed that up with a points win over Zhaigas Zhumagulov.
He then made it three straight wins in the Octagon by tapping out Francisco Figueiredo in the first round, before knocking out Alessandro Costa in the third in December 2022.
Albazi then took his perfect UFC record to 5-0 in June 2023 as he recorded the biggest win of his career.
It was shrouded in controversy though, with many feeling he did not deserve his split decision victory over Kai Kara-France.
Verdict
Moreno is the more rounded of the two men and has a massive experience advantage.
He has been competing at the top level for several years now, so we expect him to out-point Albazi over five rounds for the decision win.
