Texas Rangers at Chicago Cubs Preview & Picks

Who will win the second game of this series in Chicago?

Check back here on Tuesday morning for Texas Rangers at Chicago Cubs tips.

Head To Head

  • The all-time series was tied at 12-12 prior to Monday’s meeting

Texas Rangers Form

Texas travelled to Chicago in good form, having started the season with eight wins from their first 10 games.

The Rangers opened with a 5-2 defeat at home to Boston, but they bounced back quickly to win the next three meetings with the Red Sox, 4-1, 4-3, 3-2.

That run was ended as they began another series with a defeat, this time losing 14-3 on the road in Cincinnati.

Texas rebounded with a couple of wins though, as they recorded back-to-back 1-0 wins over the Reds, and they built on those victories when they returned home.

The Rangers played host to Tampa Bay in a three-game series and were able to sweep the Rays, winning 5-2, 6-4 and 4-3.

Chicago Cubs Form

Chicago came into this series on a decent run of form, having won five of their previous six matchups.

The Cubs opened the season in Japan with a two-game series against defending champions, the Los Angeles Dodgers.

They lost both games, 4-1 and 6-3, and remained below .500 after their first series on home soil as they split a four-game showdown with the Diamondbacks in Arizona.

Chicago rallied on the road though as they swept the Athletics with 18-3, 7-4 and 10-2 victories, and they backed that up with a win in their home opener, beating San Diego 3-1.

The Cubs took the second meeting with the Padres too, 7-1, but missed out on the sweep as they dropped the final encounter, 8-7.
