They made a successful return to action last Friday as they won 6-1 at home to Tampa Bay, but they have been unable to build on that.
New York dropped the next two meetings with the Rays, 9-1 and 6-4, before claiming a split of the series with a 9-1 victory.
The Yankees then hosted the Mets for the final Subway Series of the regular season, suffering 3-2 and 12-3 defeats.
Boston Red Sox Form
Boston come into this series with New York having struggled since the regular season restarted, losing five of their first six games back.
The Red Sox went into the All-Star break in solid form, having won 10 of their final 13 games before the break.
However, they failed to maintain that form when the season resumed last week, losing their first four games back.
Boston travelled to Los Angeles for a three-game series with the Dodgers and were swept thanks to 4-1, 7-6 and 9-6 defeats.
The Red Sox then lost 9-8 in Colorado before finally ending their losing run with a 6-0 victory, but their joy was short-lived as they dropped the final meeting 20-7.
Verdict
Brayan Bello's ERA may not be the best, but he has been involved in a bunch of Boston wins.
Nester Cortes Jr, on the other hand, cannot seem to buy a win on the road, so give us the underdog Red Sox.
