The Dodgers’ form collapsed before the mid-season pause as they lost six times in their final seven games.
They were swept in Philadelphia before heading to Detroit where they failed to build on a 4-3 win over the Tigers, losing 11-9 and 4-3.
Los Angeles hit a hot streak after the break though, as they hosted Boston and swept the Red Sox with 4-1, 7-6 and 9-6 wins.
The Dodgers then won back-to-back meetings with San Francisco, 3-2 and 5-2, before rebounding from an 8-3 defeat with a 6-4 victory.
Houston Astros Form
Houston head into this series looking to build on a win in Oakland that halted a three-game skid.
The Astros were one of MLB’s form teams between the middle of June and middle of July, stacking up a bunch of wins.
They went into the All-Star break on the back of a couple of losses though, suffered 2-1 and 4-2 defeats at home to Texas.
Houston rebounded with 3-0 and 4-2 victories in Seattle when the season resumed, but they missed out on the sweep as they lost the final meeting 6-4.
The Astros then lost back-to-back games in Oakland, 4-0 and 8-2, before taking the final game 8-1 to avoid being swept.
Verdict
