Houston Astros Form

Houston came into this series on the back of a solid showing in Minnesota that improved their record to 4-5.

The Astros enjoyed a winning start to the season as they down the New York Mets at home, 3-1.

They then rebounded from a 3-1 loss in the second meeting with a 7-2 victory in the series finale, but they again failed to follow up a victory.

Houston were swept in a three-game home series with San Francisco, losing 7-2, 3-1 and 6-3 to the Giants.

The Astros rebounded in their first road series of the season though, sandwiching a 6-1 loss to Minnesota with 5-2 and 9-7 victories.

Seattle Mariners Form

Seattle entered the series having made a rough start to the season, losing three of their first seven games and each of the last three.

The Mariners got off to a winning start as they beat the Athletics 4-2, but they failed to follow that up as they lost the next two meetings, 7-0 and 4-2.

They took the finale 2-1 to split the series, only to then lose the first two home games against Detroit, 9-6 and 4-1.

Seattle avoided being swept as they won the final game against the Tigers, 3-2, but they have not won since.

The Mariners went out on the road for the first time this season and were swept in a three-game series with San Francisco, losing 10-9, 4-1 and 5-4.
