The PGA Tour heads to TPC Scottsdale this week for the WM Phoenix Open, but who will leave Arizona with the trophy?

Nick Taylor is back to defend his title after a playoff victory over Charley Hoffman in 2024.

Past and present major winners who will tee off on Thursday include Scottie Scheffler,  Brian Harman, Wyndham Clark, Matt Fitzpatrick, Lucas Glover, Hideki Matsuyama, Jordan Spieth, Justin Thomas, Webb Simpson and Gary Woodland.

These are our four selections that could win the title this weekend.

Scottie Scheffler

Scottie Scheffler has been in fine fettle on the PGA Tour, winning the Travelers Championship, placing 4th at the FedEx St. Jude Championship, T33 at the BMW Championship, winning the Tour Championship and the Hero World Challenge before finishing T9 at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am last weekend.

Before those superb performances, Scheffler won the Masters and the RBC Heritage, placed T8 at the PGA Championship and T2 at the Charles Schwab Challenge and secured victory at the Memorial Tournament.

The world's number-one-ranked golfer has compiled an outstanding record at the WM Phoenix Open, with results of MC in 2020, T7 in 2021, victory in 2022, victory in 2023 and T3 in 2024.

Scheffler recorded nine victories on the PGA tour last season and will be hard to stop after his recent results at TPC Scottsdale.

Sungjae Im

Sungjae Im has been in great touch on the PGA Tour this season, placing 3rd at the Sentry, MC at the American Express, T4 at the Farmers Insurance Open and T33 at the Pebble Beach Pro-Am.

Before that, Sungaje Im was playing well towards the end of the2024, finishing T11 at the BMW Championship, 7th at the Tour Championship, T13 at the ZOZO Championship and T9 at the Hero World Challenge.

The South Korean has made five appearances at the TPC Scottsdale, placing T7 in 2019, T34 in 2020, T17 in 2021, T6 in 2023 and T66 in 2024.

Sungjae Im can win the Phoenix Open this weekend after his strong start to the year.

Sam Burns

Sam Burns has had a decent beginning to his season on the PGA Tour, finishing T8 at the Sentry, T29 at the American Express, and T22 at the Pebble Beach Pro-Am.

Before that, Burns was in solid form, finishing T12 at the 3M Open, T5 at the FedEx St. Jude Championship, T2 at the BMW Championship, T12 at the Tour Championship and T14 at the Hero World Challenge in five outings.

The five-time PGA Tour winner has featured six times at the WM Phoenix Open, with results of MC in 2019, MC in 2020, T22 in 2021, MC in 2022, and T6 in 2023 and T3 in 2024.

Burns will aim to go all the way and win in Arizona after his previous two performances at TPC Scottsdale.

Sepp Straka

Sepp Straka has been in excellent touch at the start of the new PGA Tour season, with results of T15 at the Sentry, T30 at the Sony Open in Hawaii, victory at the American Express and T7 at the recent AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am.

Straka has come good lately and should enter calculations in Arizona this weekend.
