A host of elite golfers head to Pebble Beach this week for the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, but who will leave with the trophy at the end of the second PGA Tour Signature Event of the season?
Wyndham Clark returns to Pebble Beach to defend his title after a one-stroke victory over Ludvig Aberg in 2024.
Past and present major winners that will tee off on Thursday include Scottie Scheffler, Brian Harman, Wyndham Clark, Rory McIlroy, Matt Fitzpatrick, Shane Lowry, Lucas Glover, Justin Rose, Jordan Spieth, Adam Scott, Justin Thomas, Jason Day, Hideki Matsuyama, Keegan Bradley, Collin Morikawa and Gary Woodland.
These are our four selections that could lift the trophy this weekend.
Collin Morikawa
Collin Morikawa has gone close to winning in his last three outings on the PGA Tour, placing 2nd at the Tour Championship, T54 at the ZOZO Championship and 2nd at the Sentry.
Other notable results achieved by Morikawa last season include finishing T3 at the Masters, 9th at the RBC Heritage, T16 at the Wells Fargo Championship, T4 at the PGA Championship, T4 at the Charles Schwab Challenge, 2nd at the Memorial Tournament, T14 at the U.S. Open, T13 at the Travelers Championship, T4 at the Genesis Scottish Open and T16 at the Open Championship.
The world's fourth-ranked golfer placed T14 at the 2024 AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am on debut.
Morikawa will fancy his chances to secure victory at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am after his recent result on the PGA Tour.
Justin Thomas
Justin Thomas has been playing well on the PGA Tour lately, placing T14 at the Tour Championship, T2 at the ZOZO Championship, 3rd at the Hero World Challenge, T26 at the Sentry and 2nd at the American Express.
Other prominent performances achieved by Thomas last year include finishing T12 at the WM Phoenix Open, T12 at the Arnold Palmer Invitational, T5 at the RBC Heritage, T8 at the PGA Championship and T5 at the Travelers Championship.
The two-time Major winner has made two appearances at this event, missing the cut in 2014 before placing T6 in 2024.
Thomas will fancy his chances to secure the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am title after recording three top-three finishes in four starts.
Patrick Cantlay
Patrick Cantlay has been producing solid results on the PGA Tour lately, finishing T12 at the FedEx St. Jude Championship, T13 at the BMW Championship, T17 at the Tour Championship, 11th at the Hero World Challenge, T15 at the Sentry and T5 at the American Express.
Other noteworthy results achieved by Cantlay during 2024 include placing T4 at the Genesis Invitational, T22 at the Masters, T3 at the RBC Heritage, T23 at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans, T3 at the U.S. Open and T5 at the Travelers Championship.
The eight-time PGA Tour winner has done well in his last four visits to Pebble Beach, finishing T11 in 2020, T3 in 2021, T4 in 2022 and T11 in 2024.
Cantlay appears to have turned the corner and is overdue a victory.
Keegan Bradley
Keegan Bradley has been in decent nick on the PGA Tour since December, finishing 5th at the Hero World Challenge, T15 at the Sentry, T6 at the Sony Open in Hawaii, and T15 at the Farmers Insurance Open.
Bradley's additional highlights from last season include victory at the BMW Championship and finishing T22 at the Masters, T21 at the Wells Fargo Championship, T18 at the PGA Championship, T2 at the Charles Schwab Challenge, T22 at the Wyndham Championship and T21 at the Tour Championship.
The 38-year-old American placed T11 overall at the 2024 AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am.
Bradley has the form to upstage the others and win the tournament.
Verdict
Morikawa will have every chance of success in California after his previous performance.
Thomas has done nothing wrong lately and has claims for the title at Pebble Beach.
Cantlay is showing signs he is ready to win another PGA Tour title.
Bradley has been thereabouts and is the long-shot value bet at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am this weekend.
