Winnipeg Blue Bombers at Saskatchewan Roughriders Preview & Picks

Saskatchewan are tipped to cover as they end their winless run.

The Roughriders do own one win over Winnipeg this season, and despite their recent resurgence the Blue Bombers have largely struggled on the road.

  • Saskatchewan Roughriders are 2-1-0 ATS in the last 3 meetings
  • Winnipeg Blue Bombers are 3-7-0 ATS in their last 10 games
  • Winnipeg Blue Bombers are 1-4-0 ATS on the road this season
  • The Under cashed when the two teams met in July

Head To Head

  • Winnipeg Blue Bombers lead the series 20-17 since 2010
  • Saskatchewan Roughriders won 19-9 when the two teams last met on July 20

Winnipeg Blue Bombers Form

Winnipeg have kick-started their season during the month of August, winning three straight to improve to 5-6.

The Blue Bombers made a miserable start to the campaign as they lost their first four games to put their bid to return to the Grey Cup in early jeopardy.

They steadied the ship in early July with a couple of wins, only to end the month with two more defeats to sit 2-6.

Winnipeg avoided a third straight loss as they beat the BC Lions 25-0 at home, and when they returned from the bye they built on that victory.

The Blue Bombers went out on the road to beat the Lions 20-11, before returning home to down Hamilton 26-23 last weekend.

Saskatchewan Roughriders Form

Saskatchewan come into this matchup having now gone five games without a victory, leaving them with a 5-5-1 record.

The Roughriders opened the season with a road win at Edmonton, and backed that up with a couple of wins over Hamilton before downing Toronto at home.

Their perfect start was finally ended by a 35-20 defeat at BC, and although they bounced back a week later to beat Winnipeg 19-9, they have failed to rediscover their early season form.

Saskatchewan lost 20-16 in Montreal and 42-31 at home to Edmonton, before going to a 22-22 tie when they visited Ottawa.

The Roughriders then returned home to lose 27-24 to Montreal, and saw their winless run reach five games when they were beaten 20-19 in Toronto last time out.

Verdict

Winnipeg are the team in better form, but we need to see more from them on the road before we can find the confidence to back them.

Saskatchewan have struggled recently, but they did beat the Blue Bombers last month so we lean towards them.
