Edmonton Elks at Saskatchewan Roughriders Preview & Picks

Saskatchewan are tipped to cover as they return to winning ways.

Winless Edmonton are giving up a bunch of points and the Roughriders can take full advantage of that.

  • Saskatchewan Roughriders are 5-2-0 ATS this season
  • Edmonton Elks are 0-7 so through the first 8 weeks
  • Saskatchewan beat Edmonton by 8 points in June
  • The Over has cashed in 4 of the last 6 meetings

Head To Head

  • Saskatchewan Roughriders lead the series 20-19 since 2010
  • Saskatchewan Roughriders won 29-21 when the two teams last met on June 8

Edmonton Elks Form

Edmonton head out on the road still seeking their first win of the season after seven consecutive defeats.

The Elks opened up with back-to-back home games and failed to make the most of that as they were beaten 29-21 by Saskatchewan and 23-20 to Montreal.

They then went out on the road to lose 39-36 in Toronto and 24-21 at the BC Lions to enter the bye week at 0-4.

Edmonton did not manage to solve their problems during the bye either, losing 37-34 when they hosted Ottawa.

The Elks then lost 20-14 when they visited the Redblacks a week later, and their losing skid reached seven games with a 44-28 loss at home to Hamilton.

Saskatchewan Roughriders Form

Saskatchewan have lost two of their last three games, but at 5-2 they have been a good start to the season.

The Roughriders, who went 6-12 last season, kicked off the campaign with back-to-back road, wins, beating Edmonton 29-21 and Hamilton 33-30.

They then improved to 4-0 when they beat Hamilton 36-20 and Toronto 30-23 at home either side of the bye week.

Saskatchewan’s perfect start was ended by a 35-20 defeat at the BC Lions, only for them to bounce back a week later with a 19-9 victory over Winnipeg.

The Roughriders failed to build on that win though, as they were beaten 29-16 at defending champions Montreal a week ago.

Verdict

Saskatchewan are already one win away from matching last season’s win total, while Edmonton are yet to get off the mark.

One team is heading in the right direction and that is the Roughriders, so we are riding with the home team in this one.
