- Regis Prograis’ only defeat in his career so far came on points
Regis Prograis Form
Regis Prograis is the defending WBC super-lightweight champion with a professional record of 29-1 (24 KOs).
Prograis became a world champion for the first time in his career when he competed in the World Boxing Super Series between 2018 and 2019.
He stopped Kiryl Relikh in the sixth round in the semi-finals to win the WBA light-welterweight title, but he failed to make a successful defence.
The 34-year-old American dropped a majority decision to Josh Taylor in the final – the only defeat of his career so far.
Prograis bounced back in October 2020 when he stopped Juan Heraldez in the third round, and he backed that up the following April by knocking out Ivan Redkach in the sixth.
He made it three wins in a row with a sixth-round stoppage of Tyrone McKenna in March 2022, earning a shot at the vacant WBC light-welterweight belt.
‘Rougarou’ knocked out Jose Zepeda in the 11th round to win the title, and in his first defence in June of this year he edged Danielito Zorrilla by split decision.
Devin Haney Form
Devin Haney is the current undisputed world lightweight champion with a perfect 30-0 record (15 KOs).
Haney won his first world title in September 2019 when he stopped Zaur Abullaev in four rounds to win the vacant WBC lightweight title.
He then successfully defended that belt with unanimous decision wins over Alfredo Santiago, Yuriorkis Gamboa and Jorge Linares.
That set up a big unification fight in June 2022, when Haney established himself as the premier lightweight fighter on the planet.
The 25-year-old American walked into ‘enemy territory’ and earned himself a unanimous decision win over George Kambosos Jr to add the WBA (Super), IBF, WBO and Ring Magazine titles.
Haney then retained that crown in an immediate rematch, again travelling to Australia to beat Kambosos Jr on points.
He made another successful defence in May of this year, beating Vasyl Lomachenko via unanimous decision in Vegas.
Verdict
Devin Haney is a classy operator who has the size to cope with moving up in weight.
He is backed out outpoint Regis Prograis over 12 rounds and become a two-weight world champion.
