Jake Paul vs Ryan Bourland Preview & Picks
Jake Paul is backed to make quick work of Ryan Bourland.
Bourland is a former Golden Gloves champion with a solid record, but this is still a ‘lay-up’ for Paul.
His opponent has fought just once since 2018 and has been knocked out quickly in the past.
- Jake Paul has an 8-1 professional record
- Jake Paul stopped Andre August in the first round last December
- 5 of Jake Paul’s 8 career wins have been by knockout
- Ryan Bourland’s previous KO loss came in the first round
Jake Paul Form
Jake Paul has a professional record of 8-1 (5 KOs) after winning his last two fights of 2023.
Paul recorded his first ‘notable’ win in April 2021 when he knocked out MMA star Ben Askren inside two minutes.
He then faced ex-UFC champion Tyron Woodley in back-to-back fights, winning the first by split decision and the second by sixth-round knockout.
‘The Problem Child’ then claimed a unanimous decision win over Anderson Silva in October 2022, before finally sharing the ring with online rival Tommy Fury in February 2023.
The pair clashed in Saudi Arabia after months of verbal sparring on social media, and Paul suffered the first defeat of his career as he dropped a split decision.
The 27-year-old bounced back that summer by beating UFC star Nate Diaz via unanimous decision, and backed that up in December with a first-round knockout of Andre August.
Ryan Bourland Form
Ryan Bourland has compiled a 17-2 (6 KOs) professional record, but has fought just once since 2018.
Bourland debuted in October 2013 and reeled off seven straight victories before finally suffering the first defeat of his career – a first-round knockout at the hands of Israel Duffus.
He rebounded with a stoppage win over Cesar Ruiz and backed that up with decision wins over Billy Bailey and Gilberto Rubio.
The 35-year-old American then stopped Rubio in the rematch, before claiming decision wins over Alfredo Contreras (twice) and Cesar Ruiz.
Bourland’s next loss followed, as he dropped a majority decision to Jose Hernandez, but he bounced back quickly.
He beat Codale Ford and Jose Hernandez by decision in 2018, before going on hiatus for almost four years, and when he returned to action in 2022 he stopped Santario Martin in the fifth round.
Verdict
Ryan Bourland has some skill, but he lacks punching power and has been largely inactive for years.
This smacks of being another easy outing against a pro for Jake Paul, and we expect him to take out Bourland in short order.
