Daniel Dubois is a former WBA (Regular) heavyweight champion with a record of 20-2 (19 KOs).
Dubois won a bunch of minor titles as he won the first 15 fights his career, but that streak was halted in November 2020.
The 26-year-old Londoner suffered the first defeat of his career that night as he was knocked out in the 10th round by domestic rival Joe Joyce.
He rebounded in 2021 by knocking out Bogdan Dinu in the second round and Joe Cusumano in the first-round.
Dubois then stopped Trevor Bryan inside four rounds to win the WBA (Regular) heavyweight title in June 2022.
‘Dynamite’ ended the year by stopping Kevin Lerena in the third round, earning himself a world heavyweight title fight in the summer of 2023.
He challenged Oleksandr Usyk for the WBA (Super), IBF, WBO, IBO and Ring Magazine titles, and he came up short as he was knocked out in the ninth round.
Dubois bounced back in December though, stopping Jarrell Miller in the 10th round for his 20th career win.
Filip Hrgovic Form
Filip Hrgovic is an unbeaten heavyweight fighter with a professional record of 17-0 (14 KOs).
Hrgovic debuted in September 2017 and quickly reeled off a bunch of wins that secured a fight for the WBC international title 12 months later.
He knocked out Amir Mansour in the third round of that bout, and in his next outing he beat veteran Kevin Johnson by decision.
From there the 31-year-old Croatian made a string of successful defences of his international title – a run that included a third-round knockout of Eric Molina in December 2019.
That proved to be Hrgovic’s last defence of that belt as he moved on to claim the IBF international title.
‘Hrga’ stopped Rydell Booker in the fifth round to win the belt, and then retained it by stopping both Marko Radonjic and Emir Ahmatovic in three rounds.
Hrgovic claimed the biggest win of his career in his next outing, claiming a unanimous decision victory over Zhilei Zhang in August 2022.
The Croatian heavyweight then backed that up by stopping Demsey McKean in the 12th round and Mark de Mori in the first round last year.
Verdict
Daniel Dubois has a puncher’s chance here, but we are not expecting an upset in this fight.
