Claressa Shields (15-0, 3 KOs) continues her quest to become undisputed heavyweight champion when she takes on Danielle Perkins (5-0, 2 KOs) at the Dort Financial Center on Sunday, February 2.
The fight can be exclusively seen globally in over 200 countries on DAZN.
Shields maintained her perfect record last summer as she knocked out Vanessa Lepage-Joanisse in the second round to walk away with the WBC and WBF heavyweight titles.
She will now aim to add the vacant IBF and WBO belts to her collection, and she will look to do it in her hometown of Flint, Michigan.
“I'm strong as hell at heavyweight,” said Shields, a former light-middleweight, middleweight, super-middleweight and light-heavyweight champion of the world.
“I know that from how I participate, from the guys I am sparring with, their reactions from when we get tied up in our sparring... pushing them back.”
Standing in Shields’ way is unbeaten contender Perkins, who has won five straight since making her professional boxing debut back in August 2020.
This represents her biggest test to date though, and it would be a monumental upset if she was able to knock off Shields, one that would arguably rival Mike Tyson’s defeat to James ‘Buster’ Douglas.
But can Perkins dethrone the two-sport superstar, or will Shields add more accolades to her glittering combat sports record?
